What Will I Find in “The Essence of Courage”? Part 1

When your best laid plans for a new direction turn south, what do you find around the next unexpected curve? That twist took my straight into the world of essential oils thirteen years ago. That destination had its own curve — a high learning curve, that is. Truth is, as I discovered the oils and learned more about them, my time in God’s word was enhanced with some very fresh looks at fruit, spices, and oils found there. Solomon’s locked garden intrigued me, and God showed me some amazing truths flourishing in that garden. He also asked me to share those insights with the world. I’ve patiently awaited His amazing directives. The Essence of Courage is the culmination of so much He provided over a dozen years.

In this post, and another tomorrow you’ll learn what you can expect to find in The Essence of Courage. Each chapter of the book features one of the nine fruit, spices, and essential oils of Solomon 4:12-14: Pomegranate; Henna; Spikenard; Saffron; Calamus; Cinnamon; Frankincense; Myrrh; Aloes/Sandalwood, and how those are connected to the nine fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5: Love; Joy; Peace; Patience; Kindness; Goodness; Faithfulness; Gentleness; Self-Control. Each chapter is also broken down into four parts. In the first of these

Cinnamah-Brosia and Friends Share Their Stories: She and her friends introduce us to a fruit of the Spirit and share their own stories about that fruit in their lives. (All the stories in the “Cinnamah-Brosia and Friends Share Their Stories” sections are based on events shared by real flesh and blood women. The stories have been fictionalized to fit our characters and timelines appropriately and to protect actual identities.) They prepare us to discover the essence in Scripture and to meet a woman of the Bible who also displays the representative fruit of the Spirit. “C-B” loves essential oils, baking, music, and God’s Word. She spreads that love around. In these sections you will become better acquainted with her, learn what she’s diffusing, and discover the café’s special of the day, a song that’s playing, and the Scripture verse she’s posted. (The oils chosen for diffusing may not be the same one featured for that fruit, but they are ones typically readily available and complement the fruit of the Spirit for that selection. Songs playing are an eclectic variety of old and new. We hope you will recognize some, and others will become new favorites. Just like “what’s diffusing,” each song was chosen to complement the fruit of the Spirit for that selection.)

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow when I’ll show you what’s in store in the other three parts.
